My name is Shawn Highfield, I started Signs of Integrity in May of 2007 with the desire to have control over the product that left my shop and the level of service the customer receives.
I started in the sign business in April of 1992 at a family owned sign shop in Springfield, Ohio, my home town. I had just graduated from college with an Associates Degree in Commercial Art and thought I was going to take the advertising world by storm. I had no idea what the sign business was all about or what I was getting myself into. It was love at first site. I was helping businesses create opportunities for themselves through creative means. I had always been creative and loved to see the finished product and now I was doing just that for businesses. I knew quickly that this was my passion and something I wanted to make a lifelong career of.
I began as an entry level production person, doing the basics of signmaking. I quickly caught on and before I new it I was promoted to Production Manager. I managed the workflow and training of new employees. I also began doing design work and screenprinting. I soon became lead designer and began to do some estimating of new projects. After 6 and 1/2 years, getting married and moving to Columbus, the last 3 1/2 year commuting, I took a position at a franchise sign shop in Worthington. I spent over 11 years there running the shop and doing sales. I developed a great relationship with the owner and learned a tremendous amount about running a business. When he sold the business in 2006 I decided it was time to finally venture out on my own. So here I am. I believe my experience and knowledge over 23 years in the business allows me to be the best resource for my clients and helps me provide a positive experience for them when making buying decisions regarding signage. There isn't much I haven't done, from consulting, to designing, to producing and installing, I have experienced all facets. Also commonly called “wall” or “box” signs, cabinet signs are a traditional form of illuminated signage. Cabinet signs allow for an effective way of utilizing large copy area and eye-popping graphics.
The background of the sign can be the element that illuminates and the copy can be either translucent (lighted) or opaque (non-lighted).

Visible by day, luminous at night, channel letters provide great depth and precision to your company's sign.
Channel letters are also known as "internally illuminated letters". This description says it all in that each letter is generally lit from the inside with light shining through the plastic sign face or out the back of the letter (called a halo-lit, or reverse channel letter). As is the case for most of the signs we offer, channel letters are custom made from metal and plastic, and are commonly illuminated with LED lighting (very efficient) or neon tubing.
Channel letters may be installed directly to the building facia (each letter is mounted individually) or on a raceway, a pre-fabricated metal box that runs the length of the channel letter sign.
Your type of installation may be determined by the city ordinance or building owner's sign criteria. We can help you get the results you're looking for.

Add some dimension to your signage, literally! Dimensional lettering is an effective way to grab attention and guide customers to your place of business. Exterior dimensional lettering can be installed directly to your building facade and to self-standing signage structures, such as monument signs or other low profile signs.
There is a distinct difference between our dimensional letters and its cousin, the channel letter. Dimensional letters are illuminated externally. That is, if you're looking to light up your sign by night, you'll need to consider an external lighting source. If you're looking for maximum impact, and the application warrants it, we recommend that you consider channel letters to internally illuminate your sign to attract attention to your brand, day or night.

When screen printing it's important to use the correct ink to get the desired results. The most commonly used inks for silk screening are oil-based Plastisol, water-based and discharge which is available in both Plastisol and water-based. Additionally there are more eco-friendly PVC and Phthalate free ink types available.
Water-based ink soaks into the fibers of the fabric instead of sitting on top of it giving the screen print a softer feel. Discharge ink, available in both Plastisol and water-based types, removes the color of the fabric where it's applied and replaces it with its pigment. Discharge ink is a good choice for use with 100% cotton.
